Week 13- Decision Making

Image
Habitual Decision Making describes the choices that we make that we tend not to spend a lot of time thinking about- especially with purchases We make these decisions so often that they are merely a habit. We make them so regularly that we don't have to think! That's convenient. What are some examples of habitual decisions? In my personal experience, I know that when I go to the store I pick up canned cat food for my cat.  I do not have to think much about this decision to put it in my cart, it is simply a habit that I have gotten into due to the consistent necessity.  Another example of habitual decision-making is my consistent purchase of Coca-Cola. This purchase just happens because I like to drink it, but I do not necessarily go to the store to seek it out, but rather just happens to be a product that always ends up in my cart.

Week 12- Attitudes & Persuasive Communication

In looking at attitudes, there is an important model that creates attitudes towards a brand or item. How can we apply this model towards a product, and what is this model? The model is called the ABC Model of Attitudes . It includes three components: affect, behavior, and cognition.  Affect is how someone would feel about a subject of attitude.  Behavior is the actions someone takes towards the object. Finally, Cognition is what someone believes to be true about the object.  We can apply this model to Reece's Peanut Butter Cups . Affect: I feel that Reece's Cups are delicious and they are my favorite candy.  Behavior: When I go to Wegman's or any other store that sells the candy, I would seek it out to purchase it  Cognition: I believe that Reece's are a popular candy that is convenient to find and buy.

As a young woman in 2021, I can definitely speak on the ideal female beauty . As a young woman, there is a lot of pressure to fit the standard of beauty, especially in the age of the internet when there are filters, photoshop, influencers, and celebrities receiving augmentations, fillers, and surgeries behind closed doors (I just feel there should be more transparency; I am not shaming), there is a real sense that you are not "perfect." When you see beautiful models across social media and TV, it is hard to feel good sometimes when they are so perfect, when in reality they were not born like that and defiantly did not "wake up like this" as Beyonce once said.  Bella Hadid's before and after rhinoplasty that has been denied to have happened. There is hope on the horizon though. As referenced in the chapter, there has been a push for body positivity and feeling good in the skin that you are in. This is a means to rid of fattism, or the discrimination or dislike f...
